March 2020
Over a year ago Jesus led me to fast over a bottle of olive oil for 30 days. I did, put the oil away and waited for the “word” to use it. This morning (2020.03.29) I knew Jesus wanted me to go out and pray over certain areas of the city in my car (Taking Back Territory). As I was leaving, Jesus told me to go back and get my oil. I started to understand that I was going to pray over, anoint and bless the city before a “coming problem.”
Jesus would give me a better understanding of what I was doing as I would drive around completing my tasks, but He never gave me the exact details and outcome. I also feel led to write this down and document it so it will be published in case anything profound happens…just in case. Before I go into what this is all about let me bring you up to speed on how I interpret “oil” and “Passover” as they relate to this entry.
First, in the Bible oil represents the work and anointing of the Holy Spirit. God calls humans to anoint others with sacred oil in our natural realm to bridge the anointing from His heavenly realm. Here are some other ways – in no way exhaustive – oil is used in the Bible: (1) priests were anointed and consecrated with oil, Kings were anointed with oil before taking their positions, oil represents the presence of the Holy Spirit as in the parable of the virgins, today pastors are ordained and anointed for their position (although no oil is used for some reason, at least in my ordination), oil is used in ceremonies: anointing for certain missions, praying over people, sanctifying physical places, and healing and deliverance.
Second, many Christians don’t celebrate Passover and neither does my family. However, I have come to understand the importance of all the Jewish Feasts and Celebrations, how they are relevant to God’s plan and timing in the Salvation of the world over time, and their relevance both in the Biblical narratives of eschatology (future prophecy) and reconciliation. In Egypt, the Passover was connected to a coming judgement. The Hebrew people sacrificed an unblemished animal, put a “mark” of blood on the threshold of the door and the angel of death passed over their homes. On that night judgement was executed on the gods of Egypt; “…when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land…” (Exodus 12:13).
As I started driving, Jesus began to let me know what to do. As He indicated, I “marked” or “anointed” certain areas around the perimeter of my town, praying what He gave me as I anointed with oil. In light of oil and Passover, Jesus led me to understand that I was preparing for “a” Passover. I do not claim to be a prophet and Jesus didn’t give me the exact reason for marking the areas with oil, but I felt as if something is coming. Also, I just found out this Passover falls between Wednesday, April 8th and Thursday, April 16th, a week and a half from today!!! Hmmmm.
I don’t know if this truly means anything to you, but I also anointed my house and family for “a” Passover. Praying over your family and home is NEVER a bad idea. God also holds anointing with oil in high regard. I know people have different opinions on these topics. I can only suggest you pray and ask Jesus what you should do. If nothing, nothing. But I might also suggest that anointing with oil could never be a bad idea for you and your family as well as your home.
Two other areas were marked and prayed over today, but those markings are for separate reasons and to be discussed another day.
