A local church receives a call from a woman looking for an “exorcism.” The pastor of that church then refers the younger single woman to me. We will call her “La Rosa.”
I call La Rosa and introduced myself. I feel led to be firm with her. During our conversation rebellion comes up and I detect a spirit of academic pride as she explains to me spiritual problems with her family. Despite these surface issues, she admits to have just come out of New Age witchcraft after I challenge her with the subject. La Rosa has been openly practicing witchcraft through tarot card readings, angel card readings and provides a service of crystal healing. One doesn’t just stumble into these things. There is training and practice involved to master these crafts.
La Rosa claims to be a Christian before practicing witchcraft (it happens frequently) and that she has been deceived. I question her “Christianity” as she pridefully defaults to an academic knowledge of who Jesus is, not a relationship with the Savior of all things. I want to meet her to decern more about her story – Jesus has a way of pointing out things to me in real time, but she is very stand-offish. She’s protecting something. Perhaps she’s an infiltrator, sent to the church who refers her to me. Perhaps the spirit of witchcraft is convincing her to be weary of me in fear of deliverance. La Rosa doesn’t have to be aware she is being used to do these things, most don’t. The spirit can use her to do these things and she think she is doing good. Either way, I want to first get her to a point of Salvation through Jesus Christ, then kick her demons to the curb and set her free.
A doctor would ask a patient about their symptoms. I begin asking La Rosa questions, trying to learn why she’s seeking “exorcism.” She “didn’t feel comfortable” describing what she is experiencing, which in turn, makes me even more uncomfortable with her. As I began to speak more about witchcraft she begins to manifest over the phone, becoming uneasy and restless as she reservedly lets out a restrained scream. Her demon is exposed.
La Rosa challanges me, asking “What are your credentials?” I gave her my normal list and then something shot out of my mouth, something that never would have by my own power. After explaining how Jesus has pulled me out of the church to condition me for the future, the words “Now I am being sent back in to help churches” came out of my lips. I never would have said this. This has never been a thought of mine prior to my conversation with La Rosa. Interesting.
A couple more facts before the conclusion of this article. Trying to establish authority and an opportunity to meet and get in front of her I was led to tell her, “I am the one Jesus has sent to deliver you from the problem you’ve gotten yourself into. You have to be comfortable with me and I have to be comfortable with you.” The Holy Spirit told me to tell her “Don’t talk to anyone else about this problem, I want you to rely on Me.” Also, when I mention her manifesting earlier, she acts as if she doesn’t know what I’m talking about.
The next day I receive a barrage of text messages from her. I will not include the text content as I have in the past. There are too many convoluted issues. To make it concise her family tells her that she is “overreacting.” She also contacts a Catholic priest and he tells her, “You don’t need ‘exorcism.’ You need to get back to church and do confession.” Her spirit of witchcraft has convinced her that she has “jumped the gun a little.” I only had one reply, “I acknowledge what you are saying. Your priest is wrong. You have my number when things don’t change for you.”
The point is, Jesus tells her not to speak to anyone about her deliverance and trust Him. In an act of rebellion to His word she speaks to her family (the one’s with the spiritual problems), a Catholic priest who turns her away from freedom, and listens to the spirit who is running her life. It is not doubt that “rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.”
