“Abilene” walks into McDonald’s where I’m studying and sits uncomfortably close beside me, crying and filling up Kleenexes – there were other places to sit by the way. My flesh wants to tell her to move a little away from me, but the Spirit leads me to begin a conversation.  It turns out, she is on nine different medications, experiences psychosis, diabetes, many other physical challenges, has been divorced, feels abandoned by her parents, along with many other problems…and I wanted her to move away from me!  She was physically shaking, while waiting for her social worker who didn’t show. She’s waiting for disability and counting on so many things other than Jesus, as she claims to be a Christian. She’s diabetic and needs to eat but didn’t have any money so I feed her (met her immediate need) and I pray for her. I ask her if she thinks Jesus can heal her.  She said yes, but needs her medication.  Sounds like she’s made a decision to me.  I pray against psychosis and for Jesus to give her the strength to get away from all the drugs.  Faith as a mustard seed…right? A month later I walk into McDonald’s to study and a girl speaks to me.  She says, “Hey there.  You remember me?”   I reply, “No.”  She reminds me that I prayed for her “right over here” as she points and goes into the story of how she has reduced her medication drastically and rededicated her life to Christ.  As soon as she tells me about all the medications, I remember who she is.  She also looks physically different (might have been why I didn’t recognize her).  She tells me she’s making a huge breakthrough with her medications.  She is thinking more clearly and in “great spirits.”  I’m listening to her recite what Jesus tells me to pray over her a month prior, amazing!  She’s still shaking and I felt like Jesus tells me “pray for her shaking again.”  So I do.  I pray against the spirit making her shake in the name of Jesus Christ.  Nothing happens immediately, but neither did any of the other things a month ago.  I am looking forward to seeing her again, but next time without the shaking.
