I was speaking to a young man in a customer service situation today and he introduced himself as “Zeus.” We entered a period of light banter regarding his name, how awesome I think it is his parents named him Zeus, and an introduction he identified as “The best I’ve experienced all day.”  After we took care of a little business he said to me, “You’ve been a blessing to me today.  My prayers go up to you and your family.”  Now, you know he just kicked the door wide open and gave me an open invitation for a more intimate conversation with that statement, right?  So, I asked, “Who are you praying too?”  He replied, “The one that matters.”  Most Christians would never think twice about this statement because the Christian-contemporary mindset defaults to God/Jesus automatically.  Not me, especially with a name like Zeus.  So I asked, “Are you praying to the ‘old gods’ or the One who died to set you free?” He knew I was referring to Jesus and said, “Both.”  First, that answer is no bueno!  Additionally, no follower of Jesus is praying to the old gods so I responded, “Jesus loves you brother and He died to set you free of the oppression of any lessor god” and I gave him John 14:6.  He didn’t seem too concerned, but I made an impact on Zeus personally which allowed me to give him the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We wrapped-up our business, enjoyed our interaction together, and I went on my way respecting his business space.
