I’ve received a lot of feedback, questions, on how to test the spirit. I considered these to be condescending – and maybe some were – until one tells me “I started doing what you do and I realized I’ve been listening to the wrong voice.” In this article I will teach you how I test the Spirit so you won’t be fooled, allowing you to establish a true line of communication with your King.
First, the scripture which commands testing is 1 John 4:1-3. That’s right, I said, “Commands.” Jesus doesn’t want you to be fooled by other entities who operate in contrast to The Father’s will. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 tells us to “Test all things.” Many spirits want to gain access to you, gain your attention falsely, have you move toward their false narrative and live inside your being. The truth is, you only want one Spirit doing any of these things and that’s the Sprit of the Lord. So many in the church today are infiltrated with lying spirits, false Jesus’ and false Holy Spirit’s. The spirit of the Antichrist has gained a strong foothold in the Church, predominantly because the one’s He’s set in charge of His church are not testing the spirits who lead them. They’re not teaching their flocks how to protect themselves. As a result, these church leaders and pastors are leading their flocks into bondage. Don’t wait for your pastor to protect you, especially if they cannot protect themselves. You’re responsible to test the spirit for yourself and open the lines of communication with your Savior, not them.
I gave the scripture to support testing the spirit but reading that scripture to a demon is not enough. Let me explain, I use the foundational truths of our faith to establish who He is and, as 1 John 4:1-3 says, contradicting spirits are unable to come into agreement with this. I don’t understand that, but it’s how it works. Jesus is telling me right now, “A lying spirit cannot come into agreement with the truth.” The Kingdom of Darkness has nothing to do with the Kingdom of God. They cannot claim the foundational truths that make God who He is, The One who’s created the steppingstones to our Salvation (Jesus). These are some of those foundational truths, the ones I use:
- Virgin Birth
- Sinless Life
- His Miracles
- Atonement through Shed Blood
- Death on a Cross
- Bodily Resurrection
- Ascension to sit at the Right Hand of The Father
- His Future Visible Return in Power and Glory
Without one of these tenets of our faith, Christianity falls. These are the things which make God our Savior! Somehow, the enemy cannot claim or deny these things. Here’s an example:
“Do you claim that God became a man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, was buried in the earth for three days, resurrected back to life and ascended back to the right hand of The Father to intercede for the sins of mankind?”
If the spirit claiming to be Jesus, The Holy Spirit or The Father God can’t come into agreement with this, you have a counterfeit spirit speaking to you. Also, The Lord is not so rigid that He can’t have fun with this process. I like to have fun with this and He likes to have fun with me. I still respect Him as My Savior, King and God of this age, but we get to interact, in what the Bible refers to as “Friends.” What a friend I have in Jesus, right? Here’s an example:
“Do you claim God became skin, became a big beautiful bouncing baby boy, gave his virgin mother a hard time, but didn’t sin, died on a cross, preached to those wretched spirits in Hell for three days, stealing the keys of death and Hades to ascend and to place them into His Daddy’s right hand?”
Sometimes I have to retest the spirit multiple times during sessions. Sometimes I have to clear the air and test the spirits during Kingdom Intelligence Meetings with my wife and oldest children. I’ve been fooled many times. It’s a part of the job. If you’re not communicating with Him on this level, you’re barely working.
Look, Jesus is here to protect you. He doesn’t want you to fall prey to the enemy, but He can’t prevent it if you don’t ask Him to be intimate with you. Intimacy is where a relationship begins. Good relationships consist of humor, seriousness, loyalty, love, etc. He wants to interact with you, so talk to Him and expect His voice to come back to you; but don’t receive just any spirit. That’s the point of this writing.
